![]() ![]() NOTES FOR PRACTICE
Please have your swimmer at the pool at least 15 minutes prior to start time for warmup/stretches. If you wish to stay and observe during swim practice, please do so from the observation deck on the upper level of the pool. The pool deck must remain open for swimmers and coaches only to enable them to have enough room to warmup, stretch, and run a dry land practice. You may be on deck to pick up or drop off your swimmer.
If you would like to speak to a coach, please do so before or after your swimmers practice. You may also call or email the coaches to set an appointment if more time is needed for discussion.
When swimmers enter the pool deck, they must sign in on the bulletin board. This will enable the coaches to track attendance and for the safety coordinator to monitor swimmer numbers. Swimmers will not be allowed to leave the pool deck unless going to the bathroom/locker room. If your swimmer must leave practice early, please send a note to your swimmers coach. As the school year continues, Northside's side entrance will become busy with various after school activities. So for safety purposes, please remind your swimmer that after practice, if his/her ride is not outside when they leave the pool deck they must return to the pool deck. Swimmers should not stay in the hallway or stand outside. After a few minutes they can go back outside to look for their ride. If their ride has not arrived, coaches will have their cell phones available for swimmers to call home. The coaches will hold your swimmer until you arrive, so don't worry and/or speed to pick them up.
Practice will be available Monday through Friday at the scheduled group times giving you the flexibility to attend. Head Coach Tony Santino would love to see everyone there 5 days a week, but knows that with busy schedules that would be impossible. So the minimum would be to practice at least 2/3 days a week. Also, remember that school work comes first! So the coaches do understand that swimmers schedules will vary on occasion.
Remember to check the red family mailbox that can be found by the pool entrance for any notices or ribbons. There will also be a small blue box with forms that you may need, newsletters, etc.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2009 In honor of Cardinal Swim Club's 25th anniversary, the Board of Directors is planning a day that you and your family will not want to miss! Olympic Gold Medalist Peter Vanderkaay will visit CARD and teach a swim clinic. See the event invitation for specific information about the entire day. Peter is a University of Michigan graduate, and currently swims for Club Wolverine in Ann Arbor, MI. He trained for Nationals and competed at The Nat in July. Karen Haller will be looking for a few willing helpers, so please email her if you are able to help in any way.
Silver Anniversary Caps
New Silver Anniversary silicone caps are now available for $11.00. Red CARD caps are still offered in latex for $5.00. The silver anniversary cap will be the official team cap for CARD's 25th Anniversary year. The red CARD cap will return the following year as the team official cap. Julie George will have caps at the pool.
Direct Athletics Swim Meet Registering System
CARD now uses an online meet sign-up system. CARD families should have already received user names and passwords and should be able to go to DirectAthleticssite to register for meets. Our coaches reserve the right to assign events for each swimmer. Many January and February meets have deadlines of December 18. Late fees will be strictly enforced, as meets are taken offline on deadline days.
